Mets make a trade

The Mets have completed a significant deal, sending outfielder Lastings Milledge to the Nationals for catcher Brian Schneider and outfielder Ryan Church, according to major-league sources.
The deal, first reported by WFAN, will reunite Mets general manager Omar Minaya with Schneider and Church, two players he had with the Expos.
Schneider, 32, will become the Mets' starting catcher, replacing Johnny Estrada, whom the team recently acquired from the Brewers for reliever Guillermo Mota.
Church, a left-handed hitter, likely will be the Mets' starting right fielder after hitting 43 doubles and 15 homers last season. Milledge, a right-handed hitter, is seven years younger than Church, and the type of athletic outfielder favored by Nationals GM Jim Bowden.
The Mets proposed sending Estrada along with Milledge to the Nationals, one source says, but the Nats apparently balked at the idea. If the Mets fail to trade Estrada in the coming weeks, they likely will decline to offer him a contract.

I think this is a good trade. We needed a strong catcher. Next up is pitching. We NEED some good pitching to send us over the top!

What do you think?

Let's Go Mets!

Comments:
Church seems to be a solid player all around, offense and defense. He reminds me of McReynolds. However he's no star hitter. I think they could have gotten a bit more for Milledge, but thats my opinion. I really think they should have used him in a trade for a pitcher. As for Schneider, he looks good but I still wonder what went on with Torrealba. Something scared Omar in some way. Other than him and no Schneider, I'm not sure who I would take for catcher.

Ok so we haven't done much since Church/Schneider. I know its the holiday season but Omar better get off his rump and work on getting some relief help. Now I think he should get a decent starter (not sure why he's ignoring Silva, but maybe they know something we don't) without giving up one of our starters and get some more relief help. Make that good relief help.
